I find it hard to reconcile Charles III’s long-professed devotion to the particular ( place, tradition, memory, rootedness, inherited forms, local character, civilizational continuity,...)with his apparent indifference to the erosion of England as a particular nation.
He speaks too eloquently about the need to protect what is organic, ancient, fragile, and locally rooted. Yet when the same logic is applied not to the English, and to England itself that concern seems to vanish. Funny.
Many who once admired this side of him are therefore deeply disappointed. They expected a king who understood the value of inheritance. Instead, his silence reads less like prudence than abandonment.
His devotion to the Nuremberg truth regime and multiculturalism seem to be more fundamental to his deep persona than any religious belief he holds.
Maybe he knows his power is limited so he is reserving it for esoteric matters. Regardless, his silence on mass immigration and mass rape is disappointing, and changing his title to "defender of the faiths" really destroyed his credibility for wanting to preserve anything local and rooted.
I seriously wonder if he's not just a muslim convert who thinks the mass rape of England is a necessary evil for creating some sort of mystical sultanate.
Wonderful recognition of the worthy goal not just for and in its most concentrated form of sacred art, but for decision making and form making at all scales. Finding the clues and perhaps the intentions of the Order embedded and looking for our participation to make it evident as Good True and Beautiful. “Solving for pattern” is how Wendell Berry would phrase this thing. Looking at what land form and culture form brings together and revealing that order in the pattern of settlement or now, re-inhabitation of the town/territory places suctioned away by modernity-urbanity. Perhaps the form opposed to theophany is older than the modern moment, recalling Babel. Theo-eco regional design is practice worth exploring now, with new interest in connecting our Church to our Places.
